Design philosophy
Combing European heritage and Japanese aesthetics into timeless and functional products that last. There is minimal ornamentation, allowing the leather to be front and center.
Dieter Rams, a renowned German industrial designer, coined 10 “principles for good design.” These are principles that we embody into our designs.
- Innovative: Design possibilities are always expanding, and innovation offers new opportunities.
- Useful: Products are bought to be used, and good design emphasizes their usefulness.
- Aesthetic: The aesthetic quality of a product is integral to its usefulness, as it affects our well-being.
- Understandable: Good design clarifies the product’s structure and makes it easy to understand.
- Unobtrusive: Products should be neutral and restrained tools, not decorative objects, leaving room for user self-expression.
- Honest: Good design does not make a product seem more innovative, powerful, or valuable than it truly is.
- Long-lasting: Good design avoids being fashionable and therefore never appears antiquated.
- Thorough down to the last detail: Nothing should be arbitrary; everything is considered with nothing left to chance.
- Environmentally friendly: Good design contributes to preserving the environment and considers the product’s lifecycle.
- As little design as possible: It concentrates on the essential aspects and avoids burdening products with non-essentials.
